I have
attended many festivals and events over the years. The
24th Vancouver Folk Music Festival is certainly the most
organized I have ever attended. I'd have to say that
everyone involved played a part in the success of the
most wonderful and entertaining weekend.
Start with
the brilliance of artistic director, Dugg Simpson, add
the dedication of 1,000 volunteers and the spirit of
countless Festival attendees and the result is a perfect
mix of one of the biggest parties Vancouver has ever
seen.
I was more
than impressed. I went out of my way to search out a
fault of some sort. Other than Sunday's rain storm, which
rather than spoil the day, added a element of intimacy
and closeness between thousands of musicians and die-hard
folk fans I could not find a single complaint. It was
perfect, it was beyond the best the world has to offer
anyone who has a fondness for music that reaches into the
soul and root of the rhythms that bind us all together.
